These terms govern use of themassis at themassis.com. By creating an account or signing in you agree to them, the Privacy Policy, the Information Security Policy, and the Data Retention and Disposal Policy. The product prepares journal entries from Shopify payouts; posting to QuickBooks Online remains a human decision.
1. The service
themassis splits Shopify payouts, drafts balanced QuickBooks Online journal entries through a clearing account, and holds exceptions for accountant review. You may optionally connect a bank account through Plaid so deposits can be matched. It is a bookkeeping aid, not a substitute for a licensed accountant, tax adviser, or legal advice, and not a bank or payment processor.
2. Accounts and roles
You must provide a working account email and keep credentials secret. You are responsible for activity on your account and for the stores and companies you connect. Use unique users; do not share logins.
- Merchant — may connect store and books, view payouts and status. Cannot approve or post journals.
- Accountant — may review exceptions, approve or reject drafts, and post to QuickBooks.
You represent that you have authority to connect each Shopify store, QuickBooks company, and bank account you link.
3. Review and accuracy
Nothing posts to QuickBooks Online without approval from an authorized operator. You (or your accountant) must verify entries before posting. themassis does not warrant that every draft is complete or correct for your chart of accounts, tax position, or reporting period. Ledgers we prepare are designed to balance; an unbalanced draft is held, not posted.
4. Connections — Shopify, QuickBooks, Plaid
When you connect a provider you authorize themassis to use that provider's API on your behalf, subject to that provider's terms (Shopify, Intuit, Plaid). You may disconnect at any time in the app or by writing to support@themassis.com.
Plaid. Bank login happens inside Plaid Link. themassis never collects or stores bank usernames, passwords, PINs, or MFA codes. We store an encrypted Plaid access token and item id, and transaction data for the deposit account you selected, only to match Shopify payouts. On disconnect we revoke the item at Plaid and delete our token copy within 24 hours. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's end-user privacy policy. You will not attempt to capture institution credentials, modify Plaid Link, or use End User Data except as this service provides.
5. Acceptable use
Use the service only for stores and books you are authorized to operate. You must not:
- access another merchant's data or credentials;
- interfere with, scrape, or reverse-engineer connection flows beyond ordinary use;
- store, request, or transmit bank login credentials through themassis;
- use the service for any unlawful purpose, including fraud or money laundering;
- resell End User Data or payout records;
- circumvent posting approval or role restrictions.
We may suspend access if we reasonably believe these rules are broken or if a connection is compromised.
6. Customer data, license, and security
You retain ownership of your payout data and books. You grant themassis a limited license to process that data solely to provide the service, secure it, and comply with law. We do not sell it.
Each party will protect the other's confidential information. You will keep your passwords and session devices under your control and notify security@themassis.com promptly of unauthorized use. We will maintain the administrative, technical, and physical safeguards in the Information Security Policy, including encryption of tokens, tenant isolation, and the Plaid 12-hour Security Breach notice. You will not copy Restricted data (tokens, secrets) out of the product.
7. Privacy and retention
Collection, use, sharing, retention, and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy and the Data Retention and Disposal Policy. Those documents are incorporated into these terms. After you close an account we revoke connections, delete tokens within 24 hours, and retain or erase workpapers on the published schedule (including a 7-year books audit trail unless you request earlier erasure and no legal hold applies).
8. Fees
Paid plans are billed as presented at signup or in the product. Fees are exclusive of taxes. You authorize Stripe to charge the payment method you provide. We may suspend the service for non-payment after notice.
9. Intellectual property
themassis retains all rights in the software, mark, mapping rules, and documentation. You do not receive ownership of the product. Feedback you send may be used to improve the service without obligation.
10. Disclaimer
The service is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, themassis disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted service or that drafts are correct for your tax position.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, themassis is not liable for lost profits, lost books, posting errors you or your accountant approve, or outages or acts of Shopify, Intuit, Plaid, Stripe, or your bank. Our aggregate liability for claims arising out of the service is limited to the fees you paid us for the three months before the claim. This cap does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law (including fraud) or our obligation to notify and reasonably contain a Security Breach involving your data.
12. Indemnity
You will indemnify themassis against claims arising from stores or books you were not authorized to connect, data you submit, or your breach of these terms or of Shopify, Intuit, or Plaid terms.
13. Term, suspension, termination
These terms last while your account is active. You may stop using the product and request deletion via support@themassis.com or privacy@themassis.com. We may suspend or end access for breach, risk to End User Data, or required by a provider. On termination we revoke tokens and dispose of data per the retention policy. Sections that by nature should survive (including 6–12, 14) survive.
14. Changes, law, contact
We may update these terms by posting a new version. Material changes take effect on the stated date. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which themassis is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that a consumer protection statute of your residence may still apply.
